Roxanna Kopp Smith

Roxanna is a certified yoga & meditation teacher with over 2 decades of experience. She has been teaching prenatal, postnatal and preschool yoga in Contra Costa County for the past 4 years after leaving her yoga community in Boulder, CO. Roxanna taught prenatal privately and in small home groups before growing a loyal following at Indigo.

Roxanna loves to teach Yin yoga, encouraging students to quiet their mind and relax in to the postures. Each posture has a physical benefit to it as well as a calming effect on the nervous system and glandular system.

Roxanna has also been dancing and leading 5-Rhythm "Waves" for 15 years. She believes in the healing power of dance/movement and loves to share her joy with others. Her specialty is creating playlists and leading waves that leave others touched, moved, and inspired.

In her spare time, you can find Roxanna riding her bike, exploring the coast or spending time with her grown children.

  • Yin Yoga
  • Yin Yoga targets the joints, fascia, and connective tissue in order to create more space in the body and a greater range of motion. Yin Yoga unites the Body, Mind, and Breath. Calming the breath allows the body to get quiet, when the body is still, the mind can relax, which calms the entire nervous system. Practicing Yin helps you feel more flexible, peaceful, and refreshed.

    Unlike other types of yoga, Yin poses are held for longer periods, allowing the tender connective tissues to strengthen and lengthen. Yin yoga can be done by all types of people at all different levels of experience and flexibility because you rely on your own body’s wisdom to let you know how far to go.

  • Prenatal Yoga
  • Nourish & celebrate your changing body while gaining increased strength, flexibility, & peace of mind.  This class is designed to support you mentally & physically throughout your pregnancy and also be supported in an awesome community of other pregnant mamas! 

    Each class includes focused breathing, meditation, and stretching - all are great tools to improve sleep, reduce stress and address specific issues that many pregnant women face. Every class includes pelvic floor exercises that can aid in childbirth and postpartum recovery.

    Prenatal yoga is a wonderful way to share this special time in your life with others and create lasting community.


  • The Dance Wave
  • This class will take you through various emotions and forms of movement - it’s both a great workout and a journey that will help you feel alive, grounded, and connected to your body and spirit. If you enjoy dance in any form, you should come and experience this class! Roxanna’s guidance is friendly and fun, giving gentle directions without ever feeling intrusive.
     
    In the dance, there is a wisdom in the progression of movement, like the motion of a wave…beginning with a flow of life, moving the body intuitively, without words, without actual dance moves; an intuitive journey inwards.
     
    Often therapeutic, initially it can be challenging to shrug off self-consciousness…make sounds, and move in ways that aren’t necessarily “pretty” - the ultimate freedom to let go of societal norms, inhibitions, self-censorship, and MOVE from an inner voice.
     
    There is NO right or wrong way to move, You will be given prompts, and your inner guide is the compass. What is exactly the right flow for you today?
